Community Capacity Building

The Community Capacity Building program assists groups by enhancing skills essential to regional economic planning, development and implementation. The program offers capacity building modules, planning sessions, and industry development sessions to interested stakeholders with a clear link to economic and business development.

The objectives of the program are:

  • To enable community-based economic development organizations to assume the role of partners in regional economic development
  • To deliver a comprehensive orientation program designed to help build and shape communities; and
  • To encourage collaboration and broad-based partnerships.

Funding is available to not-for-profit economic development organizations including regional economic development associations, municipalities, industry/sector groups, educational institutions, and any other community-based organizations involved in economic development. The Community Capacity Building Program provides support for clients targeted by the Poverty Reduction Strategy. The program will normally provide a non-repayable contribution of up to $5,000 to regional organizations and $10,000 to provincial organizations per year.
