Youth Innovation - Call for Proposals

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, through its innovation strategy, Innovation Newfoundland and Labrador: A Blueprint for Prosperity, identified support for youth innovation as an important part of creating a culture of innovation. Inspiring young people to become involved in science and technology projects is an integral part of creating this culture.

ROV CompetitionThe Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development is seeking proposals for projects and initiatives that support youth innovation in the province. Proposals should focus on research and development opportunities in environment, ocean technology, and other sectors exhibiting high growth potential.

The application deadline is October 3, 2011

The 2011 call for proposals provides up to an 80% contribution of total costs to a maximum of $20,000 per project. Eligible proponents include:

  • Schools in the kindergarten to 12 system
  • Not-for-profit organizations
  • Post-secondary educational institutions
  • Youth organizations
  • Industry organizations
  • Municipalities
