Through the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador encourages an innovative culture throughout the province and provides support to industry, labour, academic and other research and development institutions and businesses.

The department assists Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with competing head-to-head in markets around the world. As a department, we view innovation, quality infrastructure, strong private sector engagement, and a highly-skilled workforce as being key pillars in building vibrant, competitive regions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Business Development Programs

IBRD’s business development programs help address the funding challenges that companies face as they develop new technologies, processes, products and services. IBRD’s business development funding supports the transformation of innovative ideas into new commercial products.

• Global Travel Program

Non-Commercial Programs

Non-commercial programs support public sector institutions, not-for-profit groups, municipalities, industry associations and youth organizations for initiatives that enhance innovation in the province. Funding from these programs promotes and encourages innovation in Newfoundland and Labrador.
