Trade Development Highlights...
In early October, the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, with a delegation of 20 companies and organizations, participated in an Atlantic Canadian oil and gas trade mission to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brasil 2011. This mission was a follow-up to successful ventures in Brazil in 2010, and was designed to assist Atlantic Canadian companies to better understand the business opportunities being generated by the rapid growth of Brazil’s offshore oil and gas sector and how to do business in this market.
A delegation of 20 companies and organizations from the supply and services sector of Atlantic Canada’s offshore technologies industry participated in the mission. The mission provided delegates an opportunity to learn about new technological advances for the offshore technologies sector, to demonstrate Atlantic Canada’s outstanding capabilities in the industry, and to explore key partnerships with Brazil’s leading companies.
Leonard Pecore, President of Genoa Design International Ltd. described the experience as follows:
“With careful planning and a commitment to developing relationships, I can see that the market down here can open up to a Canadian company, like ours, that works to gain the trust of the people and the companies they represent. I would encourage other companies to make the investment and visit Brazil. OTC and RIO Oil and Gas are excellent venues to gain introduction.”
