New Department, Business as Usual

Since the last edition of TradeWaves, the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development has been created. The creation of this new department aligns functions of the former Departments of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and Business to build a department that can more effectively advance economic and business activity in Newfoundland and Labrador.

While the name reflects change, the mission has not wavered.  Our focus remains on working with you, our partners, to strengthen Newfoundland and Labrador’s business community. We are in the early days of this new department but are committed to business as usual. There will be no direct impact on the delivery of programs and services and staff will continue to remain focused on high-quality service delivery.

Opportunities in the Middle East: An Irish Canadian Partnership

Contact: Tonya Norman, (709) 729-3641.

The Canadian Embassy in Dublin and Enterprise Ireland suggest that opportunities exist for Canadian consulting engineering companies with an interest in the Middle East to partner/joint venture with similarly specialized Irish firms with offices both in Ireland and the Middle East.

Sectors of specific interest include petrochemicals, oil and gas, mining, environmental cleaning, prisons and hospitals.

In support of this and in anticipation of future related projects, the embassy and Enterprise Ireland are seeking to build a short list of companies operating within the above areas of expertise, interested in partnering with Irish firms to undertake projects in the Middle East.

To get your company on the short list, or for more information please contact Tonya Norman at (709) 729-3641.
